===Installation of GNU/Linux===

  * Install GNU/Linux form a CD/DVD (If you find drives to your computer)
  * Install GNU/Linux from a USB drive
  * Install GNU/Linux from a network mirror(Advanced; can be tried any time later in 15 days)

===Package Management===

  * Synaptic Package Manager
  * apt-get

==Installing Packages==

Install the following packages. Remove a couple of them. Update and upgrade. Basically you will be learning to use Synaptic and Apt!

===Internet===

To browse Internet you need to set the proxy variable in the browser(firefox/iceweasel)

Goto: Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Network, Settings, Manual Proxy Configuration

Ask the volunteer for the relevant info on the proxy ip address and port numbers.
